I have a 12" Retina MacBook, an iMac, and an iPad. I'd like to get a good quality small microphone that will work for any of these. So I've got USB-C, USB and Lightning devices. Is there a good mic I can get with the right adaptors for all three?

What specifically are you trying to do? All of these devices have built-in microphones suiatable for dictation.
I know there are built-in microphones. I'd like to get significantly better quality. The iMac, for instance, has its pics on the top surface of the display - a good mic 5" from the mouth delivers a lot better quality.
There are plenty of higher quality USB microphones available, just Google for them.
Note: Having a subject like, "Need microphone for dictation," doesn't imply that you're looking for high quality, "suitable for dictation," is not a very high standard.
